Situated in the heart of historic Cooperstown, New York sitting abreast of Mt. Vision at the head of Main Street, the home is nestled in old growth forest with accompanying grounds cultivated with gardens and shade trees. It was designed and built in 1829 by Judge Eben B. Morehouse. Woodside Hall was a private residence until the 1960's when it became an Adult Home. This home was closed in 2006. It will now be opened in 2008 as Woodside Hall, LLC. In the 1980’s, a new structure was added to the original to create 30 bedrooms, a dining hall and a kitchen. Because of the historic nature of the building each bedroom is unique in size and accommodation. Although a modern facility, Woodside Hall retains the character of the Victorian era and is considered one of the most special residential grounds in Cooperstown.

Cooperstown (see www.cooperstown.com) is located some seventy miles west of Albany, New York and is in the heart of the historic Leatherstocking Region in Otsego County. Established in 1786 the village sits on the southern shore of Otsego Lake, a nine-mile long body of water that is the source of the Susquehanna River. The Village has roughly two thousand year round residents and is the home to a number of popular and cultural institutions including the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Farmers Museum, the Fenimore Museum, the New York State Historical Association Library and the Glimmerglass Opera. The village is rich with shops, restaurants and hospitality. Additionally, the community is blessed with the facilities of the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, a full service teaching facility (see www.bassett.org) and the Clark Sports Center (see www.clarksportscenter.com) a full service health and fitness center.

The guiding philosophy for Woodside Hall, LLC is to provide seniors with a long term home like environment that offers supports and services that can help a person maintain as much independence as he/she is able to manage safely. We pride ourselves in having excellent home cooked meals and snacks that use local fresh produce. Our staffing includes a registered nurse, 24 hour 7 day a week staffing, housekeeping, personal care support and the supervision of medical treatments and medication. We also schedule and provide transportation for medical appointments. There is an activity program that offers programs and projects that are of interest to residents. Our emphasis is on stimulating cognitive functioning and encouraging social communication and interaction. Residents are supported and encouraged to participate in resident run committees, which have input into the daily affairs of the facility. There are various opportunities for recreational, physical, social and intellectual activities provided within the home and in the community at large. Residents have access to the numerous religious, social and cultural organizations that exist throughout the Village. We wish to stress that we respect the individual's right to privacy and their option to participate, or to be independent of any aspect of our curriculum.

Wood side Hall LLC is owned and operated by a local Cooperstown family who has an investment in making this a unique and special Adult Home. Karen Cadwalader, LCSW is an experienced administrator and will oversee all aspects of the daily operations. As part of our effort to maintain a home like setting we accept animals with appropriate behavior. Parking is available for any resident or guest with a car.
