The WCA Home, a lovely Victorian residence located in the historic community of Fredonia, New York, provides its residents with quality living, safety, companionship, and all the comforts of a "home away from home." Its dedicated and trained staff is committed to maintaining a quality of care that is unsurpassed. Its special blend of privacy and care allows for personal reflection, as well as group interaction and asistance when needed.

Each of the residential rooms is private--some with half-baths, the rest in close proximity to a full bath. Other amenities include a whirlpool bath, multiple dining areas, social and recreational centers and quiet reading spots.

An elevator to the second floor and handrails throughout insure ease of mobility, and each of the resident rooms is equipped with a call-bell that rings directly into the nurse's station. The facility is equipped with sprinklers as well as a fire alarm system linked directly to the Fredonia Fire Department. A closed-circuit video surveillance system and state-of-the-art security contribute to the peace of mind enjoyed by both residents and staff.

WCA staff members are available 24 hours a day to assist with the personal needs of residents. Arrangements for tranportation, as well as medication services are available. A Registered Nurse assists a well-trained staff of Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Home Health Care Aides, and Certified Personal Care Aides in providing compassionate and appropriate care for residents.

A registered dietician approves all menus. Residents participate in meal recommendations as well as in planning other aspects of the daily routine to insure that individual likes and dislikes are taken into consideration. Residents enjoy home-cooked favorites at every meal. Laundry and housekeeping services are provided on a regular basis, and a beautician is available in an on-site salon.

A variety of physical, intellectual, and social activities are offered for both large and small groups as well as in one-to-one visits. Because of its central location in Fredonia, WCA Home residents are able to partake in community functions and activities. Religious services are also available regularly in the Home.

Recognizing that individual needs are different, the WCA Home promotes individualized care through its Case Management and Home Care service. Our limited home health license allows the WCA Home to provide support services that previously required a nursing home stay, at a lower cost and within a more comfortable home-like atmosphere. Transportation is available for doctor visits and an aide always accompanies the resident to such visits. Respite care is available for those who need a short term placement.

While the staff of WCA Home can administer most services, they are also happy to assist in making arrangements to have outside agency professionals, such as therapists, available to residents. This care is often covered under the resident's insurance or HMO coverage. Our business office will be happy to review your medical coverage plans and let you know what options are available.

The WCA Home is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors from the community.
