Welcome to the Pavilion.
The Pavilion adult home, an assisted living residence licensed by New York State and located in the historic Hudson Valley, provides services for frail elderly men and women who need help possibly because of dementia, Alzheimer's, or memory impairment. Short term rehabilitation and illnesses needing hospice care are also available. Our residents enjoy the gracious atmosphere of a comfortable country inn and the surrounding natural beauty of the Catskills, but are still within easy traveling distance from major cities. Private rooms with private baths and luxurious suites for individuals or couples offer accomodations for 100 residents - small enough to afford home-like attention, but large enough to provide for stimulating company in a friendly social setting.
Our Staff
Experienced and highly trained support staff members are on hand 24 hours a day to help those who require medication management, assistance with personal needs: bathing and grooming, toileting, dressing, mobility and eating. These are people who know more than their jobs - they know the power of a loving smile, a friendly word, a relaxed and patient attitude and, above all a sense of humor. And because they are trained to be observant and have enough time to spend with their charges, they are often the first to become aware of changes in a resident's state of mind or health.
The Pavilion residents needs are evaluated on a daily basis; medication is closely monitored and supervised, special attention is given to fluctuating dietary needs, especially fluid intake - crucial for maintaining spirits and energy.
The Facility
The formal dining room is filled with flowers, warm colors and diffuse natural light. Quiet corners inside, and paths and patios outside, invite conversation or contemplation. Spacious corridors accomodate wheelchairs and walkers. The elegant lobby and the activities room, complete with grand piano, warmly welcome family and other visitors. There is even a chapel for religous services and spiritual reflection.
Some Pavilion assisted living residents and their families may be eligible to deduct fees for services on their income taxes. Qualification for this deduction is based on the resident's individual needs. The Pavilion does not provide and should not be percieved as providing tax advice to our residents, potential residents or families. If you believe you may qualify, contact your tax advisor.
There's no substitute for feeling safe. Whether you're looking for a residence for a family member or trying to gain an added sense of security for yourself, it's important to have peace of mind. At The Pavilion, we have emergency call systems in every private room and bathroom, along with closed circuit cameras in a protected surrounding. Also, a caring staff member is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
* Beauty Parlor/Barbershop
There's nothing better than feeling good and looking your best Whether they want a little pampering or a new hairstyle, Pavilion residents enjoy the convenience of their own beauty parlor/barbershop right in their own community.
* Transportation Services
We realize that people need to get out, run errands and attend social and cultural events. Because sometimes it can be difficult for residents to travel around town by themselves, we provide scheduled local transportation to and from doctor's offices, banks, grocery stores and many other places of interest.
Lifestyle
There's always something to do when you call The Pavilion Senior Residence home.
Residents take advantage of all that the Hudson Valley area has to offer. Regularly scheduled outings include performances at the Pepsi Arena, shopping trips to Crossgates Shopping Center, and visits to the Saratoga Race Track.
Inside the Pavilion, the community is alive with energy. Regular activities include card games, movies, arts and crafts, and Bingo. Just as the piano has been the focal point of family entertainment for generations, the player piano in our living room is often the main attraction as residents and local entertainers share musical favorites. We also feature a variety of educational seminars and stimulating lecture series.
A full time registered nurse, social services director, activity director and our residents themselves are partners in planning all sorts of activities to keep the mind stimulated, the body healthy and the soul re-charged.
Discussion groups focus on an ever widening variety of topics; musical celebrations and performances, some home-grown and others "imported", are organized and well attended. Trips are arranged to see local plays, fall foliage, visit museums, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, The Boston Aquarium, and other entertainment.
Many of our residents enjoy bingo and card games, some find creative outlets in painting, arts and crafts, playing the piano, and even "messing about" in the open kitchens - activities that often lead to much hilarity and an ever-stronger sense of community. Mutual support and warm friendship flourish easily in such an atmosphere.
