The Plattduetsche Home Society has been caring for the aged since 1923. We have 80 years experience in Elder Care. It was in 1910 that the idea of building a home for “old folks”, who could no longer live alone, was conceived by Chris Ellmers and Wilhelm Neumann, two delegates of the Plattduetsche Volksfest Verein. The idea was enthusiastically adopted, and a committee appointed to develop plans. At that time, Hempstead Turnpike was only a dusty road with a trolley. The trolley operated on a slightly raised single track and ran between Queens Village and Hempstead.

SERVICES INCLUDED IN THE MONTHLY FEE

All utilities (except telephone), including electricity, gas, trash removal, water and sewer.

Cleaning and maintenance of hallways and common areas.

Light weekly housekeeping in your apartment.

Weekly laundering of bed linens.

3 family style meals (Adult Home) or 1 meal (Enriched Housing) each day served in the beautifully decorated dining room.

Scheduled transportation.

Participation in planned social and recreational activities.

Emergency call response system connected to Nurses Aide Station.

Assistance of Case Manager in handling of Resident’s personal needs.

Overnight security guard.

Residents’ Apartments (all with private baths) are in 4 sizes. There are a total of 48 Apartment Units including six (6) studio, thirty-six (36) one-bedroom and six (6) two-bedroom. Residents furnish the rooms with their own belongings to reflect their unique personality and to provide them with familiar comforts of home.
