In 1981, the dream and development of Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village, which was to answer the special needs of lower-income senior citizens and individuals with physical disabilities, became a reality. In 2006 Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village completed a two-year, nearly $3 million renovation. Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village is a community with 150 federally subsidized apartments for independent adults in a secure and comfortable environment. The mid-rise apartment building is located in the Town of Tonawanda, a northern suburb of Buffalo. Situated on Delaware Avenue just north of Sheridan Drive, the building is conveniently located within walking distance of shops, supermarkets, churches, banks, restaurants, and medical care facilities.

Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village offers affordable living to those who qualify under U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations. Section 8 Subsidy is a federally funded program that pays a portion of an eligible resident’s rent. The resident’s portion of the monthly rent is approximately 30 percent of his or her adjusted gross income. Income limits are determined by HUD.

For eligibility requirements, to schedule a tour of the building, or for more information, contact the Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village office.

Three residential options are offered at Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village:

* Standard one- and two-bedroom apartments for those who are 62 years and older
* Apartments for individuals 65 years and older who require supportive services such as housekeeping, laundry, and a meal program
* Apartments for individuals 18 years and older who are eligible for an apartment specifically designed for a person with a physical disability.

Building Amenities / Activities

Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village offers a wide range of building amenities and activities for it's residents.

Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village has a large, windowed lobby where residents can wait for visitors. The bank of locked, indoor mailboxes for each apartment is conveniently located nearby; and a bricked patio, enclosed on three sides, leads to a lovely grassy area with gardens. Two elevators serve the six-story building, and a coin-operated laundry room is located on the second floor. For the safety of all, building hallways are well-lighted and have handrails.

There is a full range of social and recreational activities, many organized by residents. Ken-Ton’s spacious common areas offer a variety of meeting places for residents’ gatherings such as exercise classes or a game of cards.

Religious services are conducted regularly in the chapel by the Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village chaplain and other religious leaders.
