Good Shepherd-Fairview Home is the result of a merger in 1968 of two smaller homes: The House of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal), founded in 1870 and the Fairview Home (Presbyterian), founded in 1891 as the Home for Aged Women. The Home is a private, not-for-profit corporation, governed by a board of directors selected from the sponsoring Episcopal and Presbyterian Churches, and is open to people of all faiths.

The Home’s philosophy is to meet the ongoing needs of residents. The apartments, adult care facility and skilled nursing facility occupy three separate wings in a single community residence. The apartment wing has 39 independent living units with a living room, full kitchen and bath and one or two bedrooms. The adult care facility has 83 private rooms, each with a bath with shower. It is certified by the New York State Department of Health and participates in the Supplemental Security Income Program (SSI). The nursing facility can accommodate 86 residents. It is a licensed residential health care facility and is certified by the Department of Health. Short-term stay rehabilitation services are available in the nursing facility. There are also two respite beds. Respite care in the nursing facility can be arranged for individuals being cared for at home. This program offers caregivers the opportunity to take a needed vacation, or perhaps just the opportunity to rest and relax.
